You will immediately notice that we have made some changes to your normal eye exam due to Covid 19.
- Everyone who enters the office must have an appointment. We will try to make this as convenient as possible. This allows us to prescreen everyone prior to entry and allows for contact tracing.
- At this time masks are mandetory and must completely cover your nose and mouth.
- Unless the patient needs assistance, we will ask the patient to come in alone to minimize the number of people in the office. If the patient is a child, please choose one parent or guardian to accompany them.
- Please be sure to complete all paperwork prior to arrival. If there is any additional information you wish to convey to the tech and doctor, please let the tech know when she calls you for the screening. This will minimize your face to face time.
- Please stay in your car and call once you arrive. You will be asked the Covid 19 screening questions and again have an opportunity to speak with the tech.
- You will not be asked to enter the building until a staff member has sanitized the pretest room and the exam room you will be using.
- A staff member will then meet you at the front door to collect your paperwork and check your temperature with a noncontact forehead thermometer. She will ask you to sanitize your hands and check your pulse oxygen level because some Covid positive patients will have a decrease in pulse ox and may not have a fever.
- Once inside you will begin your testing immediately.
- We have new equipment to enable much more space between you and the doctor when checking your prescription. We have also added a face shield to the microscope as a barrier between the you and the doctor.
- We will not be touching you unless absolutely necessary. Thus, we will not be assisiting in insertion of your contacts during training. The doctor will touch your lid when necessary with gloved hands, but not for a routine exam. The doctors have been advised to perform retinal scans or photos instead of dilation at this time to minimize touch and face to face time. The Optomap images may be covered by your insurance. If not, the fee is $39 and we will be performing this test during all routine exams because there is not another safe way to assess the health of your eye at this time. If you refuse this test, we will schedule you to return for another visit to dilate your eye when it is safe to do so. Noone knows when that will be, so the optomap imaging is highly encouraged as a part of your wellness examination and office visits where indictated.
- We love to hear about you and your family and some of our staff can be long winded. However, at this time we will be attempting to be most effiecient with your time to minimize your exposure. Please do send us an email to update us on the important events in your life and pictures of those cute kids. Most of you are all like family and catching up with you is one of our favorite parts of the job.
- You are most welcome to try on new eyeglass frames and sunglasses. Please try on the ones you are most interested in and leave everything that you touch on the desk so the optician can sanitize each one prior to replacing it on the frame display.
- Our staff must also pass the same Covid screening each day. We promise to do our best to keep everyone healthy. We very much appreciate you doing the same.
We can't wait to see you again!
